What a day!

Congratulations to the Webbs! Bryn Regina Webb was born at 2:37am, weighed 7 lbs. 2 ozs. and was 19" long. She arrived 10 days early! I talked to the proud daddy today and it sounds like mom and baby are doing well. I can't wait to meet Bryn when I make it back to Minnesota in a couple weeks.

Mike and I spent the afternoon at the Devaney Center for the Coaches vs. Cancer game (Nebraska beat Iowa State, 64-56). Most of our afternoon was spent overseeing the silent auction. They auctioned off 23 items - the highest bid at $600 for a pair of tennis shoes signed by Tom Osborne. For those of you who do not know who Tom Osborne is, you have obviously never crossed the Nebraska state line. To Nebraskans, Tom Osborne is as common a name as, well, Oprah. He is the current athletic director of the University of Nebraska and a previous football coach icon who led Nebraska to several National Championships in the late-90's.

As the "banker" of the group, my husband nominated me to add up the bid totals, so they could be announced to the 12,000+ Husker fans in attendence. Aided by what I can only guess had to be a malfunctioning calculater (because, of course, I am not yet willing to admit 'operator error'), I came up with $3,255. Unfortunately, after checking my work when we got home, it was determined the actual total was $2,350...so I was off a mere $900. Maybe I added one too many zeros to one of the entries? Oops. Guess this gives Husker fans higher aspirations for next year's fund-raising efforts!

After volunteering our time at such a spendid event, we made it a few miles in congested traffic before being rear-ended by a 19-year-old band member who was paying more attention to her cell phone conversation than she was to her driving. Thankfully there was a police officer nearby (directing traffic) and he called for back-up to file a police report. The girl admitted fault, so we are hopeful her insurance company will bear the repair expenses. Regardless, the Jeep will need an appointment with the body shop for a new rear bumper!
